Sunday crack-up

This flash song had me rolling with laughter. I think someone really has too much time on their hands!

And I can’t resist linking to this crazy cute dog , or these crazy cute kittens. All from the Cute Overload blog.

Cool Videos

Today being a nasty, rainy day, I spent quite a bit of time surfing this cool website.

Here are my favourite links from this site:

Conferences I’m Interested In

I’ve found a couple of conferences going on in Vancouver that I’m interested in. Chances are I’ll just go to the GeoWeb one:

GeoWeb 2006 – July 24 – 28 in Vancouver

“…the premier conference for Web-based geographic information systems–the meeting point of consumer location services and professional geographic information technologies: Geography Markup Language (GML), KML, MapPoint, LandXML and OGC Web Services for GIS.”

Information Architecture Summit 2006 – Learning, Doing, and Selling IA

The 2006 Information Architecture (IA) Summit is the premier gathering place for information architects. Everyone who touches on IA is welcome to share and learn. Last year’s IA Summit attracted over 400 attendees, including beginners, experienced IAs, and people in a range of related fields.

This year we’ll roll up our sleeves and tackle three key areas: Learning, Doing, and Selling IA.

Wedding Date Set

Gillian and I have been over in Victoria for many of the past weekends doing wedding planning. We went around to a whole lot of of places, and have now decided on the date and place for our wedding: Saturday August 12, 2006 in Victoria, BC.

The ceremony will be held at Saint Aiden’s United Church, and the reception will be held at the Delta Ocean Pointe Hotel (located on the Inner Harbour).

With this set, now maybe we’ll have some time for Christmas shopping!

Trans Siberian Orchestra

Gillian and I went down to Seattle after work on Monday to take in the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Neither the looming threat of a massive snow-fall, nor the 4+ hours of driving after a day of work would scare us off.

Show Rating: 110%
Show Comment: “It blew our minds”
Show Warning: do not go if you have any epileptic tendencies
Best Part: the playing or Carmina Burana with the full strings, synths, and a heavy guitar

Vonage

I figured that it was about time that I got a new phone number. Talking for any length of time on my cell phone started to fry my brain.

So I decided to try something new. I gave Telus the boot, and went for the Shaw/Vonage connection.

In my previous price calculations, Telus was actually a bit cheaper per month (saving around 8 dollars for both my internet and telephone connection). But being a geek, and really disliking Telus, I thought that it would be worth it.

To make the deal sweeter for people, if you buy one of Vonage’s phone adapters from London Drugs right now, they will give you a mail-in rebate for $35 off the harware cost, and give you 2 months free. So that actually tipped the price calculation over to Vonage without a doubt.

So far the call quality has been really good, but I’ll see how it goes over a number of months.

In conclusion, you can now call me here: 604-628-7710

Moving to North Vancouver

So that I can get away from the nasty commute from my current residence in Port Moody to West Vancouver, I have decided to give up on my awesome basement suite.

My new residence is: “Basement Suite, 705 East 12th Street, North Vancouver, BC, V7L 2K8″. This address will be valid as of October 21st, 2005.

I’m engaged!

After around 9 years of friendship, and 2 years of dating, Gillian and I are now engaged!

We won’t be setting a date for our wedding for a couple of weeks, but you can watch the wedding website for more information!

Port Moody Web Developer Needed!

Calling all community minded web developers: The City of Port Moody has posted my current job:

Crazy Frog

Crazy Frog has got to be one of the most annoying, yet totally catchy marketing pieces ever created. I’m amazed with Wikipedia’s coverage, which is really big. I am just now listening to a new album called “Crazy Hits” which features Crazy Frog in all sorts of songs ranging from “Whoomp There it Is” to “1001 Arabian Nights”. Of course the origional Axel F video rocks, and the new Popcorn music video is a new must-see.
